What degree would best compliment a major in Communications?

Katie asked:

I’m looking to double major. I think I may major in Communications, with a concentration in Mass Communication/Journalism. So what would best compliment Communications? Maybe computer science? management? Anything that would make me stand out to employers and give me more options. Thanks!
Maybe General Business?
Marketing?

How do I go about getting into mass media law?

affirmation826 asked:

I currently have my Bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television Communications, but want to get into media law. I know this means more school, but I’m not sure what kind. Do I need another undergrad degree in law? Or is there a graduate program I can get into? I have been trying to find information online without much luck, so any information would be appreciated.

Is the quality of university program more important or the school?

Angela A asked:

Hi, I am residing in Dubai and seeking for higher education right now. I have found out two universities that offer a Mass Communications degree. A three years full-time course in Middlesex University (UK) or a four years full-time course with American University in Dubai (USA). After much research, I have come to a conclusion that the program offered by American University in Dubai is a much more intensive and substantial education as their coursework is modeled under USC Annenberg, due to a recent collaboration with both parties.

I have two concerns:

1. Which university will you choose? As one year makes a huge difference, both in time and financially.

2. Supposed if my purpose to attain a transfer after a successful completion of a year to somewhere else, in Australia for example UQ where it is renowned for its journalism courses. Which univeristy would be a better choice to start with then?

Deeply, I believe there will be brighter prospects in taking up the four year course in AUD, mainly due to the expertise and technology guided by USC Annenberg. There could even be a slight possiblity to transfer there should I achieve good grades.

However, the world’s rankings of Middlesex university and American University in Dubai is about the same! And Middlesex offers a Bachelor with Honors instead of a basic Bachelor AUD is offering, despite being a 4 years course.

I inspected their syllabus and found an appalling contrast with their content. Middlesex’s syllabus is hugely brief but AUD’s very comprehensive.

Please tell me what would you do, in your shoes?

I appreciate everyone’s two cents worth of thoughts as I am drowning with the possiblities of answers.

Thanks alot guys!

Can someone help me find financial aid? I’m transferring to a new school and need a lot of fin. assistance.

sportman16977 asked:

I’m in great need of scholarships and grants. I know that there is money out there not being used and I’m eager to find it. This past year I attended community college and I didn’t take out any loans. next year I am transferring to a private institution. My EFC on my fafsa=3089. I have to pay it on my own. My mom is single and we can barely afford to live on what she makes. My dad is a deceased minister. My Grandpa was a WWII vet. My dad was in the air force but he wasnt in any kind of war or anything. I need enough to cover all of the costs. I’m getting a transfer scholarship for my grades. It is about 5,000 dollars short not including room and board. I don’t want to take out any loans. I’m trying to get a degree ins Mass Communications-Broadcasting or Television and Radio. The school I picked said I reached the limit for financial aid from them. Any idea where I can get the rest of the money from? Thanks!

What would you do in my position? (juggling job offers)?

NumNut asked:

It’s been a year since I graduated from college with a Mass Communications degree. I’ve been itching for the perfect 1st job. Meanwhile, I’ve been working part-time at the mall.

Well, I finally met with a great company (”A”) and have a 2nd interview next week. Problem is I got a call today from another great company (”B”) that wants to meet me tomorrow & possibly start training next week.

I like Company A better and it’s a permanent position. Company B is just a 3-month temporary position, but they would want me to start ASAP.

I want to wait for Company A’s decision before I say yes/no to Company B. How do I discuss this at Company B’s interview tomorrow? What would you do if you were in my position? Wait & risk losing out on both jobs?

By the way, ideally I wanted to give the part-time job I have now 2 weeks notice. Should I tell them now, in case I do get one of the new jobs and have to start soon?

Any advice? I’m so confused b/c I’d hate to say no to any offer.
