I’m afraid I don’t know where you can find a good trustworthy agent, but…
Be very very careful! I lived in South Korea for a while, and I saw where young Filipinas wind up sometimes when they get the wrong agents. I’m not saying anything against Koreans, but do not agree to go to Korea for work. Every Filipina I met there that had come over for work had been forced to work in a bar. And I’m sure you know how that goes. I would suggest trying to work as an au pair, or maybe in Manila at one of the call centers? Just be careful and ask to speak to one of the girls that has worked through the agent before. Good luck.

You can check listings of overseas employment at POEA where posted jobs are really orders from abroad. Or you can scout at different agencies but check out first the status of the agencies with the POEA. Agencies can be found anywhere in Manila and Quezon City. And when you find a legitimate one clear it out if there is a placement fee or not and if there is how much. I had some experience with my brother, we thought there was no placement fee only to found out that he was required to put up 50,000 pesos just 2 days before his flight. Whew good we were able to raise the sum and thank God he has a good job in Qatar.

Well said JRL. With your degree, you can have a decent job in the Philippines. I strongly urge you to consider and look into your future career rather than choosing just any job abroad.

Well, I maybe one of the exceptions but my reason for going abroad was simply a need for change of environment. But I didn’t sacrifice my university degree and career. I chose to wait for the right opportunity and thank God, I am growing in the career I wanted.

Now if you are really pressed to go abroad, check with POEA for accredited agencies with a strong track record. If you are planning to go to Dubai (it looks like most people want to go to Dubai), don’t take a visit visa and be reminded that they have raised their minimum age of employment for Filipinas to 25.
